Scott Oster

Dogtown.S.Oster.out

Dogtown was more of a skate culture than a skateboarding team. By skating for Dogtown, I felt that I represented a tradition, a certain style and attitude, a foundation of skateboarding, and the skateboarders I grew up admiring and was influenced by. There was also a certain sense that you belonged to a clique when you skated for Dogtown. It wasn't just a team thrown together that met at contests. We hung out everyday, whether we were skateboarding in Venice or smoking fatties at Block's house. To me, Venice was the Mecca of skateboarding, and respect came with the territory.
